HOW I WORK

My philosophy is to tailor therapy to each individual client rather than trying to fit clients into therapy pigeon holes.  So I work differently with everyone I see.   At the first session I attempt to determine who is the client is and how they got to be where they are now as well as what it is that they want to change in their lives.

Unfortunately it is never possible to predict exactly how many sessions anyone will need to achieve their goals.  All I can say with certainty is that using EFT as my main therapy tool makes therapy faster than working in any other way I have yet found in 20 years in practice.  Other experienced therapists say the same thing.  It is also possible for clients to influence the length of therapy by the amount of time they are prepared to invest for themselves between session.

I also do not ask people to commit to a block of sessions. At the end of each I ask would they like to book another.  I am also flexible about frequency.  Some people come weekly, some fortnightly, and some at even longer intervals.  Some have a couple of sessions a week apart and then space them out more. It all depends what each client feels would work for them.

I use EFT with almost all my clients. However it is EFT embedded in and shaped by my training in a number of other therapies. You can read more them below.

And I am particularly interested in working with service men and women with post traumatic stress following their time in war zones.  I offer them a special reduced rate (see below.)

I have professional indemnity insurance, belong to a number of professional organisations, and have a code of ethics which you can read here.

EFT

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a breakthrough therapy that uses new understandings of the body's subtle energies. It is powerful, apparently simple, yet richly complex and often achieves remarkable changes. Other ways I work

TAT

Tapas Acupressure Technique, or TAT, is also derived from acupressure and uses a pose that holds a number of points at the same time while focusing on a wide range of difficulties. Like EFT, it can also be a valuable self-help tool. To find out more, go to www.tat-intl.com

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing , or EMDR, is an innovative method of psychotherapy often focused on the aftermath of difficult childhood or other traumatic experiences. It has also been used successfully with phobias, panic attacks, phantom limb pain, substance abuse and other problems, and for enhancing performance. See www.emdria.org

Hypnosis

Hypnosis gives us a way to use unconscious resources and knowledge as well as conscious abilities to resolve difficulties and make changes. Everyone can be hypnotised. What people actually experience differs from one person to another but it is a conscious state. In hypnosis you can hear everything that is said to you. You won't feel that you are no longer in control. You will be.

CBT

Cognitive behavioural therapy or CBT looks at the way the things we say to ourselves, how we explain the world to ourselves, and what we do determine how we feel. It has been established by outcome studies as the treatment most likely to end a bout of depression with the least likelihood that it will recur. It also has a role in anxiety and other problems, and can be particularly powerful when used in combination with EFT and hypnosis.

Coaching

The emphasis in coaching is on defining goals and paths to them and focusing on the strengths and resources a client has, or needs to acquire, to achieve them.

Preparing for childbirth

Using hypnosis in preparation for giving birth has been shown to cut the average length of labour for first-time mothers by between a third and a half, and to reduce significantly the need for chemical painkillers.

I like to work with clients who want to use EFT to clear out all the old stuck stuff in their lives and move into the life they want for themselves, being the person they want to be.

I also work with people with:

Phobias
Habit problems
Lack of self esteem
